Resources

Basic Stereo Pair Imagery products are designed for users with advanced image processing capabilities and photogrammetric tools. This product is ideal for Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation, 3-D visualization and feature extraction applications. Basic Stereo products are collected in-track, meaning on the same orbit, and are acquired at angles optimal for stereo viewing and manipulation.

Features

Benefits

High three-dimensional accuracy

Basic Stereo Accuracy:

  • 6.5 m CE90
  • 6.5 m LE90

More accurate mapping and terrain modeling results

High resolution

  • 50 cm (1.6 ft) panchromatic – WorldView-1

Provides high density terrain posting to produce highly detailed surface data

Largest image swath collection size

  • 17.6 km (10.9 mi) width at nadir – WorldView-1

Collect larger area in stereo faster. Deliverable unit size is at least 17.6 wide x 14 km long (246 km2)

High radiometric response

  • 11 bit digitization (up to 2,048 levels of gray scale)

Improve feature identification in darker or brighter areas such as building shadows or snow

Open systems

  • Camera model information supplied
  • Compatible with most leading commercial software applications
  • Popular image file formats

High-resolution stereo imagery projects can be run quickly and easily using commercial photogrammetry tools

Spatial and Spectral Resolution

Panchromatic

Spectral Characteristics

Black & White - WV1: 400 to 900 nm

Pixel ResolutionA

WV1: 50 to 75 cm (1.6 to 2.5 ft)

Imagery AccuracyB

Horizontal

6.5 m CE90 at nadir

Typical performance in the range of 4.0 - 5.5 m CE90 at nadir

Vertical

6.5 m LE90 with these numbers

Typical performance in the range of 6.5 - 8.0 m LE90

A - Pixel resolution varies across the image due to off-nadir viewing angle. Pixels closest to nadir have a better resolution than those farthest from nadir. DigitalGlobe will collect stereo imagery at up to 35° off nadir.

B - These numbers exclude terrain and off-nadir angle affects and are based on a convergence angle of approximately 35 degrees.

    Deliverables

Basic Stereo Pair Imagery can be acquired directly from the DigitalGlobe archive or you can submit a new collection request. Basic Stereo is delivered in 17.6 by 14 km units. Minimum purchase size is 15 km wide x 14 km long.

Products are delivered by FTP or on DVD with all the Image Support Data files needed for photogrammetric processing, including a stereo file that identifies the images in the pair and collection angles, attitude and ephemeris data, geometric calibration, camera model, image metadata, radiometric data, and rational functions.

    * Distribution and use of imagery at better than .50 m GSD pan and 2.0 m GSD multispectral is subject to prior approval by the U.S. Government.
