DigitalGlobe’s web services offer developers the flexibility and robust feature-set necessary to bring the real-world view into virtually any geospatial application. With our extensive, OGC-compliant suite of web services on top of our vast ImageLibrary and robust hosting infrastructure, you can deliver current, high-resolution imagery to desktops, portals, intranets and mobile devices around the world.
Overview
Our collection of web services offers multiple implementation options and an extensive list of functionality, allowing you to embed imagery directly into your geospatial applications. Available web services include search & discovery, image delivery, data integration and authentication & security.
In order to effectively deliver these web services, we have deployed a robust hosting infrastructure with the highest levels of performance, reliability, redundancy, and security. This infrastructure is the foundation on which we support the processing and delivery of our vast ImageLibrary around the globe.

Features
Search and Discovery
We provide you with multiple ways to search the ImageLibrary, identify what imagery is available, and even access preview imagery for visual assessment. With these services, you can create a highly customized interface for your application, and let users discover imagery using the criteria that are important to them. We support OGC-compliant WFS, plus we provide a custom SOAP-based API that offers more metadata as well as access to low resolution imagery previews.
Image Delivery
Get maximum flexibility with access to high-resolution imagery in a wide range of compressed and uncompressed formats that can be integrated into nearly any kind of geospatial application.
- All major OGC standards are supported, including WMS, WMTS, WFS-T, WCS, and KML
- Compressed formats include JPEG, PNG, GeoPDF, MrSID, and more
- Uncompressed formats include GeoTIFF and NTIF
- Online KML super-overlay provides native compatibility with KML-based Earth Viewers, including Google Earth
Data Integration
We can host your geo-located data and deliver it alongside content from our ImageLibrary. By leveraging Web Services, we can provide you with a single, centralized solution for all your geospatial applications: from Google Earth, to desktop GIS, Oracle Spatial or custom enterprise applications.
Authentication & Security
We recognize that geospatial data can contain very sensitive information; therefore we have implemented the necessary security measures to ensure that your data is yours alone.
- 128-bit SSL encryption for all transactions
- Access to custom imagery catalogs based on rigorous authentication
- Optional behind-the-firewall solutions that can be deployed within your secure environment
